current obsession: Native Americana

this keen interest on Native American prints and patterns original or inspired began when i bought this Navajo belted cardigan from Ralph Lauren two years ago. it quickly became one of my most prized articles of clothing. i've collected a few other bits & pieces since and are now comfortably incorporated – as an alternative to my long-standing Liberty print obsession – in my own personal style. =]

variations on a theme 6: Go To Hell!

over the years i have collected some rather fun trousers:

Go To Hell (GTH), the term coined by best-selling American author and journalist Tom Wolf, refers to items of clothing – mainly trousers and blazers – bearing whimsical patterns and/or bright colours. basically anything so bold and garish that it stands out.

as in: If you don’t like it…..GO TO HELL! (i.e."I don’t give a shit")

during the Spring & Summer months i have fly lures

lobsters

and anchors

for Autumn & Winter, out come the pheasants

reindeer

and heraldic crests

i’ve also got border terriers and foxes too:

here’s a few more "action" shots:

want to find out more about GTH style? here’s a very informative article by Christian Chensvold.

in a sea of skinny jeans and black, this is one sure-fire way to stand out. i’ll be dammed!

twitpics: bowled over

these are some that caught my eye today:

artisanal bowls from BottegaVIGNOLI, Italy. i have my eye on the painted sardines.

vibrant hand painted ones from Turkey where no two are exactly the same. these would be great ice cream bowls.

im also thinking of this "With Love" centre piece bowl by Vera Wang for Wedgwood to give as a wedding present.

yes, i have a slight bowl obsession.

a wrap-up

wrapping presents have always been part of the fun of giving for me. i plan a theme and try to think of different ways of doing it every Christmas.
back in 2008, i was having a neon frenzy brought about by the re-issue of the LV Stephen Sprouse Graffiti in bright day-glo colours and found me the most blinding "highlighter pen" yellow paper.

last year i used thick silver paper and made it festive with skinny gold tinsel garlands and vintage print gift tags.

this Christmas, its "brown paper packages tied up with string" with plain kraft paper, red hemp twine and teddy bear decals:

and im very pleased with the result =]
