Paris on my mind

Il n’y a que deux endroits au monde où l’on puisse vivre heureux:  chez soi et à Paris.
(There are only two places in the world where we can live happy:  at home and in Paris.)
— Ernest Hemingway

a little trinket i bought since my last visit to the City of Light a few years ago

cast in exquisite 18k yellow gold and studded with nineteen perfect diamonds

the Eiffel Tower Charm is an iconic symbol of an iconic city

and a precious reminder of the the city i fell in love with.

i shall return one day =)

Feature Bag #26: Cuir Soana Sac Plat

its been a little over two years since my last a feature bag post. not for lack of bags but for lack of time (and quite honestly, a waning interest – i can't be bothered).

but anyway, today i present to you my Soana Sac Plat in marron (dark brown):

from the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2007 Runway collection designed by Paul Helbers.

here's the bag as seen during the presentation in Paris:

Photobucket

constructed out of highly durable and rather unusual kangaroo skin, the Soana leather made its debut during this collection and has since made a reappearance in the S/S 2008 menswear show and the recently concluded F/W 2012 Women's RTW extravaganza patchworked into skirts and coats.

here are a couple of detail shots of the bag including the blind stamped branding, contrast stitched 'Geometric V' motif, polished golden hardware….

… micro monogrammed cotton lining and brass plaque label.

and here it is with brother, the transmogrifying Soana Sacoche:

my Soana Sac Plat has been my go-to bag when i need to just chuck everything in for a quick getaway

it's gotta be LoVe =]

shot through the heart: my Louis Vuitton F/W 2012 Menswear picks

these jabot pins shaped like arrows with feathers painted to replicate Gaston Vuitton's personal monogram are an instant hit.

i MUST have one. oh, and this necktie too:

im happy to see the Karakoram blanket showing up once again

the bomber in ochre is particularly appealing. more so if it is reversible

and i am very intrigued by this new Damier interpretation. the nautical feel of the superimposed rope grid reminds me of the Ouvea pattern from Spring 2006.

the bags looks prohibitively expensive, but the cashmere rug looks doable.

Kim Jones' successful transition as LV menswear director secures his spot as among the ones to look forward to every season.

l’Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton book

when i put my name down for a copy of the LV Architecture & Interiors book last weekend, i picked this little tome up:

"L'Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton: Landscapes of Contemporary Creation" documents all the exhibitions held at the vast art space atop the Louis Vuitton Maison on the Champs-Elysées in Paris. since its opening in 2006, l'Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton has produced and shown artwork of over 150 select individuals with the aim of promoting creativity and contemporary art to an eclectic audience.

exclusive to LV stores world wide, this fine cloth-bound 380 page book is jam-packed with images of work by renowned artists and emerging talent such as Vanessa Beecroft, Beom Kim, Nicolas Moulin, Giuseppe Penone, sun7, Lawrence Weiner, Odile Decq, Claudia Del Fierro, Sylvie Fleury, Yves Klein, Jean Larivière, Ange Leccia, Olafur Eliasson and Robert Wilson. it also includes artist biographies as well as contributions by art critics and interviews with leading personalities from the art world.

a must for art fiends like me. =]
