Angelina Jolie + Louis Vuitton

i am looking forward to seeing the new Louis Vuitton Core Values ad campaign starring Angelina Jolie photographed in Cambodia by Annie Leibovitz.
it has been reported that four of her children; Pax, Maddox, Shiloh & Zahara have accompanied her on the trip and i think it would be nice to see them in the photos too.

this might seem an unlikely pairing to some, but she’s actually been spotted carrying LV bags in the past:

pre-Brangelina special order VVN Alma (circa 2004) and Monogram Cabas Mezzo while pregnant with Shiloh (born May 2006).

last Sunday she was photographed carrying a Monogram Sac Plat at Golfe-Juan in Côte d’Azur, an indication perhaps that this bag was selected to be featured in the advertisement.

we all just have to wait and see the results, but it should be good =]

LV + Edun ♥ Africa

besides Prada’s Edward the robot and the LV USB key holder which i think are just too good to pass, im not inclined to adding extra ornaments on my bags. but i feel that this would be another exception:

the Masaï bag charm

created in collaboration with Edun, a lifestyle fashion brand of organic, ethically made products founded by Ali Hewson and Bono, this distinct bag charm consist of 13 handcrafted ebony and bone spikes, some inlaid in the luxury brand’s signature quatrefoils plus a disc bearing the LV monogram. included is a brass tag etched with this year’s LV Core Values ad campaign slogan "Every journey began in Africa" which also stars the celebrity couple.

these charms are produced in co-operation with Made, a fair trade brand of jewellery and accessories expertly finished by craftspeople in Kenya, essentially making this bag charm Louis Vuitton’s very first "made in Africa" product.
when the luxury goods behemoth LVMH (Moët Hennessy • Louis Vuitton S.A) took a 49% ownership stake in Edun last year, it has also taken on the label’s mission of eradicating poverty through sustainable enterprise in Africa. a percentage of the sale of each AU$665 Masaï bag charm and the new Monogram Révélation Keepall 45 (price on application) in brown debossed & implanted leather – a technique echoing traditional African scarification practices – will go towards TechnoServe in Africa for the Conservation Cotton Initiative, a charity Ms Hewson created in 2005.

in conjunction with the ad campaign and the charity support, an exhibit of African contemporary art alongside Edun RTW creations entitled “Africa Rising” will open opposite Louis Vuitton’s head offices in Paris, on the rue du Pont-Neuf between October 5 – 17.

Bono & wife for LV

here’s the first pic of the new Louis Vuitton Core Values ad campaign:

“Every journey begins in Africa.”

photographed on location by Annie Leibovitz, the ad features U2 frontman Bono and his wife, Ali Hewson wearing clothes from their own fashion label Edun and LV Keepalls. the ethically-inclined husband & wife team has donated their fee to TechnoServe and Conservation Cotton Initiative. they have also collaborated in the design of a special edition embossed leather Keepall (seen here carried by Ms Hewson) proceeds of which are also donated to the two named organizations.

here’s a short behind-the-scenes video of the shoot:

previous LV Core Values ambassadors include: Pelé, Diego & Zinedine, Annie & Mikhail B., Buzz, Sally & Jim, Sean, Francis & Sofia, Keith, Mikhail G., Andre, Steffi & Catherine.

new LV Core Values ad campaign

just in time for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa:

only
Louis Vuitton could ever get three of football’s (soccer) greatest legends together for an advertising campaign. Pelé, Diego Maradona and Zinedine Zidane have been tapped to be in LV’s newest Core Values ad campaign photographed once again by Annie Leibovitz. this is especially interesting since there’s always been a grudge between Maradona and Pelé. but somehow they seem to get along in the video.

they now join Annie & Mikhail B., Buzz, Sally & Jim, Sean, Francis & Sofia, Keith, Mikhail G., Andre, Steffi & Catherine in this rather exclusive club.

LV Starcatcher

WWD just released a photo of Louis Vuitton’s latest Core Values advert:

“The journey of a star, captured in a flash.”

this time they’ve turned the lenses towards the woman behind this highly successful and critically acclaimed ongoing ad campaign, reveared celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz. originally meant to be a solo self-protrait, she opted to share it with legendary danseur Mikhail Baryshnikov. they now join the growing stellar cast including: Buzz, Sally & Jim, Sean, Francis & Sofia, Keith, Mikhail, Andre, Steffi & Catherine.

out in 1 February 2010.

“the journey is life itself”

Louis Vuitton, with the help of acclaimed film director Wong Kar Wai (
In The Mood For Love), has just premiered the "Journeys Awards" to showcase and encourage young talent from the world’s leading film schools. the brief was to create a 2 minute short that would reinterpret the luxury company’s critically-acclaimed Core Values / Journeys ad campaign "Where Will Life Take You?". two awards are at stake: the Jury Award – headed by Wong Kar Wai and LV Chairman & CEO Yves Carcelle with Sophia Coppola, Gustavo Santaolalla and Alfonso Cuarón Orozco. and the People’s Choice Award for the short film that receives the most votes online.

here are the 15 films that are shortlisted:

the winning short film/s will be shown at a special screening in January 2010 and at every Louis Vuitton stores all over the world.

this one got my vote:

"The Unwritten Journey" by Mehdi Assem from The Netherlands.

there are 3 i really like, but i chose this because it really stood out since it is the only one that utilized animation. simple and succinct, the imagery does not detract from the thought-provoking message but it still keeps the viewer enthralled.

vote for your favourite to win the People’s Choice Award at LV Journeys Awards now!

LoVe can fly you to the moon and back.

as mentioned in this blog back in
March*, Louis Vuitton has taken on three legendary American astronauts to feature in their new Core Values ad campaign. headlined by Mr Buzz Aldrin, he is joined by Sally Ride, the first American woman in outer space and Jim Lovell of Apollo 13.

we can now finally see the result:

they now join Sean, Francis & Sofia, Keith, Mikhail, Andre&Steffi and Catherine in that exclusive club of world class brand ambassadors for Louis Vuitton.

and in my opinion, this is the best one to date.

according to WWD, the next "face" of Louis Vuitton‘s hugely successful Core Values ad campaign is legendary moonwalker Buzz Aldrin. he will be accompanied by two other distinguished astronauts: Jim Lovell – of the Apollo 13 fame; and Sally Ride – the first American woman in outer space. it will be shot on location in the desert – i assume in reference to the lunar landscape – by famed photo maestro Annie Leibovitz.

so far they’ve had Sean, Francis & Sofia, Keith, Mikhail, Andre&Steffi and Catherine.

this will be another fantastic coup for the house of Vuitton. i can’t wait to see the result.
